Government Schemes in India (2025): Complete Guide to Benefits, Eligibility & Application

India’s government launches Government Scheme in India 2025 various welfare schemes to uplift citizens economically and socially. These schemes are designed to support different sections of society including farmers, students, women, the unemployed, and the elderly. This blog covers the most important government schemes in 2025 with complete details about their benefits, eligibility criteria, and the application process.


1. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)

Objective:

To provide affordable housing to the urban and rural poor.

Key Features:

  • Subsidy on home loan interest (up to 6.5%) under Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS)
  • Target: Housing for All by 2025
  • Two categories: PMAY-Urban & PMAY-Gramin

Eligibility:

  • EWS (Annual income < ₹3 lakh), LIG (< ₹6 lakh), MIG I & II (< ₹18 lakh)
  • No pucca house in the name of applicant/family

2. Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)

Objective:

To provide income support to all landholding farmer families

Key Features:

  • Direct benefit transfer (DBT) of ₹6000/year in 3 installments
  • Over 11 crore farmers covered as of 2025

Eligibility:

  • All small and marginal landholders
  • Excludes taxpayers, professionals, and institutional landholders

Register at pmkisan.gov.in or at CSC (Common Service Centre)


3. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY)

Objective:

To provide free LPG gas connections to women from BPL families

Key Features:

  • One-time grant of ₹1600 per connection
  • Additional refill support under Ujjwala 2.0
  • Encourages clean cooking practices

Eligibility:

  • Women aged 18+ from BPL families
  • Valid documents like ration card, BPL certificate, Aadhaar

Submit application to nearest LPG distributor or online via pmuy.gov.in


4. Ayushman Bharat Yojana (PM-JAY)

Objective:

To provide health coverage to poor and vulnerable families

Key Features:

  • Coverage of ₹5 lakh/family/year for secondary & tertiary hospitalization
  • 24×7 free hospitalization at empaneled hospitals
  • Covers over 50 crore beneficiaries

Eligibility:

  • Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) data used for inclusion

5. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY)

Objective:

To promote girl child savings and secure her future education/marriage

Key Features:

  • Interest rate of 8%+ (highest among small savings schemes)
  • Deposits: Min ₹250 to Max ₹1.5 lakh/year
  • Maturity: 21 years or girl’s marriage

Eligibility:

  • Girl child up to 10 years of age
  • Indian resident

Open account at post office or authorized bank


6. Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao

Objective:

To address declining child sex ratio and promote girl child education

Key Features:

  • Mass awareness campaigns
  • Support for girl education and health
  • Joint initiative of Ministry of Women & Child Development, Health, Education

Eligibility:

  • Open for all districts with low sex ratio

No direct benefit transfer; awareness-based


7. National Pension Scheme (NPS)

Objective:

To provide retirement income and promote long-term savings

Key Features:

  • Market-linked returns, managed by PFRDA
  • Tier I (mandatory), Tier II (optional)

Eligibility:

  • Indian citizens aged 18-70

8. Stand-Up India Scheme

Objective:

To promote entrepreneurship among women, SC/ST

  • Loans from ₹10 lakh to ₹1 crore

  • SC/ST or woman entrepreneur aged 18+
  • Greenfield project only

9. Atmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana (ABRY)

  • Establishments with valid EPFO registration

10. National Education Policy Support Schemes
